The mission of Douglas MacArthur Elementary School, in partnership with our families and community, is to empower and challenge each student to realize their uniqueness and talent and to achieve the highest potential toward becoming a lifelong learner and contributing member of society.
The Indiana Department of Education School Snapshot provides a wealth of information about MacArthur. Information about ISTEP, enrollment and many other important charts, graphs and statistics are available online.
Welcome to MacArthur Elementary School. I am excited to be entering my 27th year as the Principal of MacArthur Elementary School. Welcome to our new students and families and I am excited to meet you. For our returning families, I look forward to seeing you and continuing to serve you, your children and the entire MacArthur School community. Our team here at MacArthur are all committed to providing all of our students the best educational experience possible.
MacArthur has been rated as an “A” school by the State of Indiana for the last several years and our partnerships and collaboration with our students’ parents and families is a key component of the success and growth our students and school has seen. As a school, we have a “Whatever It Takes” approach and work at developing the whole child; academically, emotionally, and socially.
This school year MacArthur is undergoing approximately an 18-month construction project. The next couple of years is going to be very exciting. Our building will have 13 new classrooms, including ‘flex’ spaces for instruction and programs, a new stage and new gymnasium, STEM space for innovative, 21st century learning, and all of our classrooms receiving an upgrade.
I would encourage you to be engaged and connected to the MacArthur School community to help us strengthen our home-school partnership. We are so fortunate to have a wonderful parent community, and your support makes a huge difference. Thank you all for your commitment in helping make MacArthur an amazing place for students to grow and learn.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns and I will do my best to help.
Marian L. Buchko, Principal
